Upcoming Boutique

Mark your calendars. It's going to be good! There will be many vendors including (but not limited to):

I'm getting really excited for it! Just look at all the amazing stuff these ladies are making! I just wish I had more hours in the day to get everything done... Stay tuned, folks. I'm going to be cranking out furniture like a mad woman for the next few weeks.

Blog Shout-out

Today Five to Nine is being featured at Envy My Cooking. I get so sick of cooking the same old things all the time, so I'm constantly checking other sources for new ideas. Envy My Cooking is one of my favorite sites to get affordable, easy, creative recipes. This Baked Greek Chicken was great, and it's so healthy, too:
Another great feature about Envy My Cooking is they often post pictures of fantastic kitchens. I have been drooling over this one ever since it came out in Better Homes and Gardens:
But this one is just as amazing and may be my new favorite:
And, they have giveaways often where they give things like these aprons:
If you don't already, I strongly recommend checking out Envy My Cooking. You won't be disappointed!

Before and After: Periwinkle Chalkboard

Remember this periwinkle chalkboard? It's just bugging me. The glaze helped, but it still needed something...more. I put it in my front room for a few days and looked at it every time I walked past. Then I realized. Of course! Whenever in doubt, put a flower on it! And of course, if one flower is good, eight are even better! May I present the newly refurbished periwinkle chalkboard. Here's the before (pre-glazed):
Here's the during (glazed):
And here's the after (with flowers):
I thought about clustering the flowers at the top , and I still may do that with another chalkboard, but the message board idea just worked a little better for this piece. For sale is a whimsical periwinkle chalkboard that has been painted, distressed, and glazed. It is adorned with eight fabric flowers, three of which have clothespins to display pictures. The dimensions are 27" x 21"x 1.5". $52. Local pick-up only. Delivery available upon request for an additional fee. Email fivetoninefurnishings@yahoo.com.

Pair of Magnetic Chalkboard Doors

It's been awhile, but I finally have another pair of chalkboard doors done!

For sale are two chippy chalkboard doors. Their versatile size, shape, and appearance complement the decor of most homes, and these ones are magnetic, so you can easily display pictures, artwork, or important papers. $165 each. Local pick-up only. Delivery available upon request for an additional fee. Email fivetoninefurnishings@yahoo.com.

Large Vintage Window

Many of you have asked about the vintage windows I have in my baby's nursery. So when I stumbled across this enormous window through all my furniture hunting this weekend, I knew it would be a favorite. Little did I know how much I would love it in my son's room. See for yourself:
It is the perfect complement to the rest of the decor:
It functions as an additional focal point to the room, and provides an element of negative space in an otherwise boxed-off area.

Luckily, I found two! So I get to keep one, and I'm selling the other one. (Hurry, quick, though. I might find somewhere else to put this and then think that I need to keep them both...) This one is massive, folks; it's almost 6 feet tall! For sale is a vintage window that has a shabby chic appearance. It could easily function as a unique focal point or an excellent accent piece. The dimensions of this large piece are 68" x 28" x 2". $95. Local pick up only. Delivery available upon request for an additional fee. Email fivetoninefurnishings@yahoo.com.

Keep Calm and Carry On Sign

I've had this idea tumbling around in my head for awhile, and it's finally come to fruition. You know how I go through fetishes? Well, the latest is the phrase keep calm and carry on. Bear with me for the next few days/weeks/months as I get it out of my system.

For sale is a striking sign with the ever-popular saying, "Keep calm and carry on." Made from a Photoshop picture and then attached to a large, chunky frame that was moderately distressed, this sign makes a striking focal point. The dimensions are 14/5" x 18" x 1". $35. Local pick up only. Delivery available upon request for an additional fee. Email fivetoninefurnishings@yahoo.com.

Distressed Gray Chicken Wire Frame

For sale is a charming chicken wire frame that has been painted a soothing gray and then heavily distressed. It is a unique way to display pictures or papers in a unique way. The dimensions are 31" X 22" X 2". $35. Local pick up only. Delivery available upon request for an additional fee. Email fivetoninefurnishings@yahoo.com.

Blog Shout-out

My friend over at Juniper's Loft just reduced a bunch of items. Go check out her sale items here and here and here and here.

Up Next...

I have big plans for this week. They include this:

Here's the base primed and with the first layer of paint:

And this:
And this:

And this:
And this:
The hutch is going to be painted a semi-gloss black and distressed, and the headboard is going to be made into a bench by Mr. Five to Nine, painted a flat black, and distressed. I'm still not sure how I'm going to do the rocking chair and the two mirrors. I was thinking a creamy white for the rocking chair, because that always seems like a nursery color to me. The ornate, scrolly mirror has beveled edges on the mirror portion, so I was thinking of leaving that as a mirror instead of doing it as a chalkboard like I normally would. I don't know what color to do it, though. I was planning on taking off the hooks on the other mirror and doing it as a chalkboard, but I still don't have a color in mind. If you are interested in either of the mirrors or the rocking chair and would like it painted a certain color, I'm open to requests. Email me at fivetoninefurnishings@yahoo.com.

*Post edit: The rocking chair has already been sold.*
