Fauxtique Update and Two Before and Afters

Here are a few more before and after shots. Before:
After:
Price this weekend will be $275.

I really like the detail on this one. It might have to take up residence in my house. Price this weekend will be $425.
This mantle was handcrafted and is amazing! I may take the scroll off and paint it black and then distress it. Price this weekend will be $275.
This scrolly bench needs a couple good coats of black. Price this weekend will be $155.

This black distressed magnetic chalkboard is really big. It will come with a couple of magnets. Price will be $85.
This creamy white magnetic chalkboard door is also really big. It is very heavy and would be difficult to mount on the wall. It would also be unrealistic to use as a real door because of its weight. Price will be $135. It will come with a couple of magnets as well.

This sweet pea pink glazed magnet board will also come with several magnets. Price will be $55.
This mint green sewing table could also function as a night stand or an end table. There is no sewing machine included. Price will be $75.

And last but not least, this creamy white oval mirror has been lightly distressed and will be $65.

Time to head out and work on more things. I'm still planning on having some vintage windows, a black chalkboard door, a couple other pairs of black shutters with crystal knobs, a white chicken wire frame... And the list goes on. Tune in later today or tomorrow for another update. And remember. The fauxtique is this Saturday from 8 a.m.-noon. You're not going to want to miss it!

Fauxtique Invitation

For those of you who have been Five to Nine readers for awhile, you remember from where the fauxtique originated. Those of you who are new, though, I'm sure are wondering what it's all about. Basically, I got sick of doing boutiques where I paid a big entrance fee and commission, hauled all my stuff to a different location, paid for and made Photoshop invites, etc., etc., etc. But I have a furniture addiction, and about twice a year my garage starts bursting with stuff. So, instead of doing a cute boutique where there are gorgeous Photoshop invites and the price tags cost as much for the items as the items themselves, I started a little thing I call a fauxtique. A fauxtique is like a boutique, but much more casual. Prices are cheaper, tags are not fancy, there are not amazing invites. But there are lots and lots of great furniture/benches/hutches/signs/chalkboards/home decor at totally affordable prices. So here's your official invite, folks.

The Backyard Boutique by Five to Nine Furnishings

cordially invites you to a semi-annual

Fauxtique

Saturday

28 April 2012

8 a.m.-Noon

Mesa, AZ 85201

Orange Blossom Shop will be here with all their frames and a bunch of vinyl signs. My good friend over Sweet Stax has been assembling and painting away. I hear she's probably going to have cookies for sale with her platters, too. We will have some crocheted baby shoes that are just darling from one of my dear friends, and there will be beverages and baked goods galore. And last but not least, Juniper's Loft has some incredible antiques that will be up for grabs as well as several adorable benches. Mark your calendars, bring your wallet, and get here on time! You're not going to want to miss out. And I just checked the weather forecast. The high for Saturday is a comfortable 87, so we won't be baking outside. Thank goodness.

(*Note: Five to Nine, Orange Blossom Shop, and Sweet Stax will all accept credit/debit in addition to cash. All other vendors will accept cash only.)

(**Note 2: Please don't come early! We hustle as much as possible to get everything out in time, and if we have early birds it makes it much harder.)

Another Sneak Peak

Sorry it's been quiet around here the past few days! This past weekend I was really involved planning and helping with my high school reunion, so I had to take a small hiatus from painting, fauxtiquing, and blogging. I'm rested up and ready to go again, though. Here are a few more sneak peaks of what will be available THIS WEEKEND. Ah! Only four more days until fauxtique time!
Vintage Mint Sewing Table
Machine NOT included
Price will be around $75

Do you love this mirror or what??? I'm telling you folks! I need a bigger house for all the treasures I find! But then that would just be more to clean...

Vintage Mirror in Creamy White
$85
Chunky Chalkboard
$45

Vintage Trunks
$22 each

Oh man, I love these shutters. I think I'd have a pair of shutters in every room of my house if I had room. But I don't. Too bad. My favorite, of course, is the crystal knob. What a surprise, I'm sure.

Plantation Shutters with Frame(3 nearly identical sets available)
$85 each set
Mustard Yellow Chalkboard
$25
This piece of furniture is SOLID! I lug around kids and furniture all day and am able to move pretty much anything on my own. This one, though, certainly gave me a run for my money! It doesn't look it, but it's a sturdy, solid beast to carry. Good thing it's so dang cute!

Solid Wood Pier One Night Stand
$85
(Original MSRP: $215)

Here's a little before and during for you. Mr. Five to Nine and I grabbed our new paint sprayer (Remind me again why I waited two years to buy one of these??? It is life changing, and I'm not just being melodramatic!) to knock out a few benches, and lucky for us we had leftover paint. So, this little night stand got a quick makeover. It's still drying and waiting to be distressed. I'm probably going to keep the original hardware on it. You can see it if you look closely in the bottom right-hand corner. Price will be around $75. And of course it will be distressed. This one will be just very lightly distressed, though.
Remember this bench?
Here it is all sprayed and ready to be distressed! Not sure on the price of this one, yet. I'm thinking I might need to switch out the bench in my front room for this one. Don't worry. They will both be for sale at the fauxtique. Hopefully I will end up with one of them so I don't have a big blank spot in my front room. I hate blank spots in my house.
This doesn't look like much now, but I guarantee it will be an excellent magnetic chalkboard door. And of course it will have scrolls, crystal knobs, magnets, yadda, yadda, yadda... Price will be around $135.
Remember this bench? Mr. Five to Nine gave it a seat, a scroll, and a paint job, and it's starting to look quite chic. Of course it still needs to be distressed. Not sure on pricing for this one yet. I'll show a picture of it all done with a price probably tomorrow. Or maybe later today. We'll see how well my kids cooperate.

These frames aren't much to look at now, but I promise they will look pretty amazing soon. The pink one will be a magnet board and will have scrolls in the upper corners.
This oval one is a scrolly mirror. Price will be around $65.
And this black one will be a magnetic board complete with several magnets. Recently I realized I haven't ever done just straight magnet boards. I've done chalkboards and magnetic chalkboards but never just a magnet board. For the fauxtique I plan on having al least three. We will see how well (or not) they sell. If they sell well, I'll do more.

Whew! I have a lot of work to do. Keep checking back. I plan on posting every day from now until fauxtique time. It's going to be good, folks. Real good. Mark your calendars and bring your wallets. It will be this Saturday from 8-noon!
