Before and After: Country Farmhouse Hutch

Remember this little beauty?

Well, after hours and hours of blood, sweat, and tears (quite literally all three), she is finally done.

I'll spare you the gruesome details, but let's just say this is the most labor-intensive piece I have ever worked on. And now that she's done, this country farmhouse can be yours for $265. As usual, local pick up only. And, for a nominal fee, we'd be happy to deliver this straight to your doorstep. Contact fivetoninefurnishings@yahoo.com for more information.

Before and After: Vintage Baby Cradle

As promised, here she is:

(Yes, that's our trampoline. And yes, that's where I do most of my painting. Who wants a boring, plain, old trampoline? The paint gives it character, I say... ;) ) I bought this charming vintage baby cradle at a nearby antique store months ago. My motivation has been lacking, though, until recently, so it's been patiently waiting in the attic.

As you can tell in the above picture, after wiping it down, I sprayed it with a thin layer of black paint. Then, I broke out my trusty Heirloom White from Home Depot (Are you noticing a trend in my most recent paint color obsession?) and went to town. After letting it dry for a day, I got out my hand sander and went to town. Here's the end result:

This is just the kind of piece I love to work on. I just can't get enough of the distressed look. Next up? A chunky, rustic hutch...

Before and After: Hutch

There are few pieces of furniture I love more than chunky hutches. When I stumbled upon this one on Craig's List, I just couldn't resist.

Some of you may look at this and think I'm crazy to have spent any money at all on it. But just wait. This is going to be an excellent transformation! My plans? Paint a creamy, Heirloom White, distress until my nails fall off, and then glaze to my heart's content. (The end result should be similar to my kitchen table legs, if that gives you any idea...) I'm hoping to have it done in the next few days. Be sure to check back often. You won't be disappointed, I promise.
