For a long time I have wanted a growth chart for my son's room. I scoured the Internet, looking far and wide for a tasteful chart. All I could find, though, were overly-themed charts that were far too cutesy for my taste.
One day I decided that I was just going to try to make a growth chart. Here's what I came up with. This was my first attempt. It was extremely distressed, just how I liked it. I also stenciled it--with a homemade stencil, no less; don't ask!--which took (quite literally) hours.
My next attempt came out much cleaner and crisper. I did this one for a client, and decided to hold back on the distressing. I also ditched the labor-intensive stenciling and instead bought a vinyl stencil from my very talented and wonderful friend over at itsallaboutvinyl.blogspot.com. (She's great, by the way. Go check her out! She'll take care of all your vinyl needs.)
For those of you who are wondering, this is an old closet door that has been re-painted, distressed, and completely refurbished to function as a growth chart. I couldn't be more thrilled with the end results! And yes, they are for sale. Contact me at fivetoninefurnishings@yahoo.com to find out how to purchase your very own custom growth chart.

I love this so much! So vintage and classy. I agree with you on the too cute-sy and overly themed growth charts--this one blows those out of the water! I want one...even though I don't have kids...
ReplyDeleteSaw this at the Funky Junk party and had to comment! Just too awesome not to.
