A Reduced Hutch, Etc.

The shabby chic girl's bedroom set is coming along well. If I had 45 minutes uninterrupted, I could be all done. My little boys seem to think even 5 minutes of free time is too much, though, so it's still not done. Sigh. Maybe tomorrow... (Are you getting sick of me saying that yet?)

In other news, I'm ready to purge this hutch out of my life.

It's really, really pretty. Unfortunately, not many people have robin's egg blue as their accent color.

I was tempted to re-do my whole house around this piece. My husband laughed out loud when I told him. Apparently that won't be happening any time soon.

So, my loss is your gain. Instead of the initial $375 we started out at, we're dropping the price to $295.

Here's what she looks like now. I painted her a creamy heirloom white, distressed in all the nooks and crannies, and then used a walnut glaze to accentuate the crevices.

Instead of glass, I opted for wainscoting in the center.

Before and After: Coffee Table

Here she is. My client wanted this one painted a semi-gloss black with a medium distressing.

She opted for wainscoting on the top instead of glass, which gives it more of a shabby chic feel.

Sorry, folks, but she's already sold. The coordinating end table isn't, though. I will have that posted later today, so check back in a couple hours. She's painted a creamy heirloom white, distressed, and glazed, and she looks great!

Update and Sneak Peak

The other two tables are nearly done; I'll post after pictures tomorrow morning. In the meantime, my next project is going to be a little girl's bedroom set consisting of a matching headboard and footboard, a small nightstand, a chicken wire memo board, a vinyl sign, and a chalkboard. The headboard and footboard set, the nightstand, and the chalkboard will be painted creamy heirloom white, and the sign and the memo board will be painted a light sweet pea pink. All pieces will be distressed and glazed--I think. For sure on the distressing, not for sure on the glazing. We'll see how it looks. Stay tuned. The whole set should be done by Monday. (Fingers crossed...)

Apparently this is going to be a week filled with black tables. I've had these three sitting on my back porch for a few weeks, and I'm ready to make some room for a shabby chic little girl's bedroom set. (I probably won't get to that until next week...) Anyway, this squarish looking coffee table is already spoken for:

But these two entry tables are up for grabs. I'm planning on painting this one a flat black and adding some cool chunky knobs. (Thanks, Hobby Lobby!)

I'm thinking this one needs a semi-gloss finish with some wainscoting on the top where the glass should be. Come to think of it, maybe I should do this one a creamy Heirloom White... Any input from blog land? Do you vote for semi-gloss black or creamy Heirloom White?

It's a good thing I'm running out of space in my house, because I don't want to give this one up.

The crystal knobs are the perfect finishing touch; they give it just the right amount of bling.

I certainly hope I run across another one of these sometime soon. Sorry, guys, but she's sold; one of my new favorite clients snatched her up before I had started distressing. Sneak Peak: Yet Another Hutch

Recently I came across this hutch. Being the ridiculous furniture hoarder I am, I just couldn't resist a good hutch. It took me a couple weeks of looking at it, but I finally decided to do this one a crisp black with wainscoting in the back. I went to Hobby Lobby and got some lovely crystal knobs to give it a little sparkle. I'm going to do some light distressing on the curves and lines. Check back tomorrow; I'm hoping to have it all done by then. I'm excited to see how it turns out. I'm thinking it's going to be pretty good...
