Some Updates

Well, my kids didn't cooperate. What a surprise. So I only got the night stand and the TV stand done. I have a few family matters I have to work on this week so I will be unavailable from now until Monday to answer emails or phone calls. I thought I'd whet your appetite, though, and give you a hint of what's going to be for sale on Monday. (I will have much better pictures that are actually staged then as well as dimensions.)

Remember this?
It is now this:

I don't love how the caning looks distressed so I'll probably paint over that part at the bottom.

And here's the before on the TV stand one more time:
And the (unstaged) after:

Try to imagine it without the poor lighting, the BBQ grill, and the punching bag. It will look great Monday when I get it staged and take decent pictures that actually cooperate with the lighting outside.

And just for fun I thought I'd throw in a picture of this dresser I just finished for a friend:
I forgot to take a before picture, but it was basically a honey-oak wood color. This one isn't for sale.

Anyway, have a great week and check back Monday for some better pictures and new items. I'm hoping to have the hutch done by then, too.

Before & During: Hutch & TV Stand

Well, I lied. I folded and painted the TV stand black after all. There were a bunch of reasons why and I'll spare you the boring details, but it boiled down to black again. I promise someday I will get the courage to paint a bigger piece a fun color. For now I'm a wimp and am sticking to what I know sells. Boring, I know. Anyway, Mr. Five to Nine ended up working most of the weekend, so we didn't get it sprayed until today. Here's the before:
And here's the during:

Awful pictures, I know, but you get the idea. I did this one a semi-gloss black and plan on lightly distressing it tomorrow. I went ahead and kept the original hardware on this one but painted it black.
And in other news, look at this beauty I ran across this weekend during my furniture hunting:

Again, bad pictures but we painted this one black as well. For the backing we did a mustard yellow damask print instead of wainscoting. This piece will also get a light distressing tomorrow.
And since we had a bit of paint left in the sprayer, we gave this little hexagon table a couple of quick coats of black semi-gloss. It will also get a light distressing tomorrow.

If my kids cooperate and all goes as planned, I will post some after pictures tomorrow. The TV stand will be $350, the night stand will be $35, and I'm still not sure on pricing for the hutch yet.

TV Stand/Buffet Update

Remember how I posted about this last week?
Ummm... It's still not done. We have been fighting the flu over here at Five to Nine. Now that it has sufficiently made the rounds and we are on the road to recovery, I'm going to try to take another stab at it this weekend. I've received a plethora of emails, calls, and texts requesting that I do this a fun color, so I just might be brave and give it a try. I must warn you all, though. If I do it a funky color and it doesn't sell I may just end up painting everything white and black from now on. :)

Anyway, stay tuned. I am trying to bribe Mr. Five to Nine into helping me spray it tomorrow (Saturday) so it can dry Sunday and then I'll distress it Monday. If all goes as planned I'll post a few pictures of it painted Saturday afternoon.

I also had a few people ask about the specifics on it. It measures 64" wide x 24" deep x 42" high and the price will be around $350 (give or take). I will either switch out the hardware or paint it. I'm not sure yet on that. As for color, I'm leaning towards a peacock blue like this:
...a mustard yellow like this:
...or an emerald jade like this:
Feel free to weigh in on your color choice if you'd like.

Sneak Peak: A Buffet/TV Stand

I've had this buffet for a couple weeks now and never seem to be able to find the time to coordinate schedules with Mr. Five to Nine so we can break out the sprayer and get it painted. I'm determined to have it done by Monday, though. It is primed white on the bottom, so I'm tempted to do my favorite heirloom white over it. But it would also look pretty cool black. What I'd really, REALLY like to do is paint it teal or peacock blue or mustard yellow, but whenever I do colors they don't sell. So, black or white it is. I'll keep you posted.
